Xerox Color 800 Press from Fujifilm Gives Indiana Printer Increased Quality and Speed

Xerox Color 800 Press from Fujifilm Gives Indiana Printer Increased Quality and Speed

Pentzer Printing has been serving its customers long enough to see the transition from offset printing to digital printing, and the continuing trend for shorter, more complex print runs and variable data.

"In terms of quality, the Xerox Color 800 Press comes as close to offset as I've seen," Settle said. The clear ink option will provide additional versatility to our existing customers and allow us to draw in business. Once our customers and prospects see what the 800 can do, they're very interested in working alongside us. The 800 has changed all that," Settle said.

"The Xerox Color 800 Press will keep us ahead of our customers' needs," Settle says, "instead of having to play catch up, we can be proactive.

The optional clear dry ink station available on the Xerox Color 800 Press offers print buyers more creative freedom, supporting inventive spot finishes and effects that would otherwise require processing through additional equipment. Before, there were some offset jobs that should have been digital, but the quality just wasn't there. Brokers and designers we worked with before we installed the 800 are very excited about getting their next job printed on the 800 as a result of its creative capabilities, like the clear ink. We discussed our challenges and our needs for the future and when we saw the capabilities of the Xerox Color 800 Press, we knew this was the machine we were looking for. As far as Pentzer Printing is concerned, the Xerox Color 800 Press has performed as advertised.

New iPhone app triggers your DSLR camera, enhances time

New iPhone app triggers your DSLR camera, enhances time

The app, that will work with over 300 cameras, specialises in distance-lapse and time-lapse photography, enabling you to create beautiful videos of journeys or roadtrips, just by positioning the camera and letting the app to the rest.

For advanced users, the app brings three different shutter channels that can be tailored to the photographers specific needs.

Alternatively, Eased Timelapse creates sweet effects by using mathematical formulae to make sure stitched videos speed up at the beginning and slow down towards the end.

Beyond those time-lapse features, there are 12 other trigger modes, including facial, sound and motion recognition.

For example, you can trigger just the camera or add a separate flash into the mix or even two flashes if that floats your boat.

The press release mentions "a load of other triggering modes built in, including facial recognition, a shock sensor, a motion sensor, a magnetometer, a sound sensor, automatic High Dynamic Range (HDR) bracketing with up to 19 exposures per set and configurable steps between each exposure, a HDR timelapse mode and Star Trail photography mode.

Without the cable and dongle, the app will simply will make use of your iPhone's more-than-capable snapper.

New Photography Group Opens

New Photography Group Opens

A new photographic club met last Wednesday for it's inaugural evening.

During his introduction Rich said one of the key aims of the club is the 'free sharing' of ideas, expertise, equipment in a friendly and creative environment.

Martin Parnell presented a homemade gadget designed to aid a camera to focus on fast moving subjects - even in complete darkness.

Opening the club, called PhotoCloud, organiser, Rich Ashcroft said: 'Despite a serious fire in the building at the weekend I was determined that Wednesday evening will not be postponed.

Closing the evening was a slideshow presentation by Chris Wormwell, who had kindly put together his 'top ten' favourite wildlife shots.

'As a Manx photographer, I wanted good speakers and to learn new skills in a non-competitive environment.

Members then opened their camera bags and chatted about their most commonly used lenses, gear and gadgets

Phil Kneen's camera bag drew suprise and many questions when he pulled out a mint twin lens Rolleiflex, followed by a Mamiya 7 and £10 Nikon 35mm film camera, snapped up for the bargain price of just £12.

A photographic bursary fund was announced which, in the grand traditions of the historic Magnum Photographic Society, aimed to fund a photographic expedition, or dream project, for one resourceful and passionate member with an eye catching and innovative plan.

The biggest lens was Chris Wormwell's 500mm camouflaged glass, which was 'standard kit' for birding and wildlife photography he said.

Following this, members registered and then completed a survey on where they would like to see where the future shape of the new club lie.

Other highlights included a beautifully framed shot of a Bee-Eater on a small branch followed by a well constructed image of a rare Glaucous Gull with a tumultuous foaming sea as a backdrop.

Easy to take photos like a pro

Easy to take photos like a pro

Remember the old days, when developing a roll of film would set you back $30? And then you'd discover you'd forgotten to take the lens cover off?

These days with cameras built into everybody's phone, there are photo printers that cost as little as $40, or you can order the photographs online for about 10or that can record in both "interlace and progressive cinematic mode", which essentially means it produces a video image so high-fidelity and so smooth that it's like watching a Hollywood action movie on Blu-ray.

And latest entry-level Nikon DLSR - the D3200 - is genuinely idiot proof, actually explaining all the features and what you're doing while you're doing it - thank you Tokyo! Plus it can automatically share your photos with your compatible Android device over wi-fi.

That's the number of sales, mind you, not the value, which actually decreased 15 per cent on 2010.

As well as hooking you up with the easiest user interfaces the industry has yet produced, awesome high-fidelity specs and - more and more commonly - high-definition video capacity, these days a layman can purchase the newest technologies and top-of-the-line features that used to be reserved for the pros.

But let's rewind for a second.

In our modern culture of over-sharing, with every man, woman and child camera-ed to the hilt, manufacturers are working overtime to keep us coming back to get more. Check out Canon's latest EOS for this nifty feature.

Despite 2011 marking another record year for photo-capable smartphones, the number of top-quality digital cameras was also on the rise.

The mirrorless system is (you guessed it) mirrorless and typically uses an electronic viewfinder and displays your intended image on a small computer screen.

As consumers we love new features, we love lower prices - keep trying to impress us, camera makers.
