Richard Gere Remembers Fashion Photographer Herb Ritts

Richard Gere Remembers Fashion Photographer Herb Ritts

I was 26 or so when I met Herb Ritts. We recognize ourselves. He had a warmth in his photographs that everyone liked. Something that I do not think everyone realizes about Herb is that he was an artist. He was the one who was really nice to be around, unlike a great deal of people in that group who weren't, including me. Later, I remember calling him and saying, "Let's go riding into the desert and shoot some stuff. Sometime in the mid-'70s, I remember him telling me that he was going to take night classes in photography. We didn't have a sense that it was significant. But it's actually a complex photo with the juxtaposition of hard and soft and different angles. He loved to use natural light, and he knew which hours of the day and which sides of the studio the light came in and how to bounce it the right way. " The car in that shot (right) was my girlfriend's, and we got a flat tire.

Herb shot people he knew and had a feeling for, and if he didn't know them, he had a respect for them. He did fashion photography as a job but had the soul of an artist, and he wanted that shot.

There's a very real reason why Herb was on top of everyone's list of still photographers. We were just shooting, having fun.

On set, Herb created a very easy, flowing atmosphere.

He was the kind of guy that whenever I see mutual friends who loved Herb, we start crying.

Focus: HOPE Student Photographers Share Their Visions Of Detroit

Focus: HOPE Student Photographers Share Their Visions Of Detroit

After many months of adjusting their lenses, trekking around Southeast Michigan and brewing up photos in the darkroom and on computer screens, several Detroit high school students are now ready for their first big public photography exhibit.

"They learn all the technical parts of photography, but also the the artistic techniques: the rule of thirds, using leading lines and perspective," she said. We wanted to promote that energy and the interest that people have," he said.

"It's fabulous," said Kyohei Ave, director and chief curator of the DCCP gallery.

The exhibit will feature more than 80 photos, drawing from the many styles explored in the Excel program: portraits, landscapes, street shots, architecture, commercial and abstract work.

Annette Vanover, who manages Focus: HOPE's arts department, said the course teaches students to be professional photographers and to use the camera as an artistic tool.

"You really find that a great deal of the students in the show express their emotions and point of view in the photography," she said, "And they're really excited about showing people how they feel about their world and the community around them.

An experienced group of professional local mentors has given the program's current crew of 27 students an inside look at how the creative and photographic processes work.

Ave said the exhibit supplies a fascinating look at how photographic works evolve over time.

According to Vanover, the students have done a superb job channeling their newly-acquired expertise in the service of creativity. "It's not just showing the productive end. The classes often involve field trips to different shoot locations around the Detroit area.

Excel students meet once or twice a week from October to June.

The program, which is funded by a grant, started in October 2010 runs through May of this year, when it will wrap up with another show at the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit.

Quirky HP TopShot a photocopier for 3-D objects

Quirky HP TopShot a photocopier for 3-D objects

You'd be forgiven if, at first glance, you mistook HP's quirky new TopShot LaserJet Pro for an old-fashioned overhead projector.

However, like most laser printers, it's not really suitable for printing photographs or documents that incorporate lifelike images.

Like other recent HP printers, the TopShot excels at networking - and not just the local area variety. And, as mentioned earlier, downloadable apps that reside on the printer can post scanned images to popular websites without running them through your computer. My 14-centimere-tall teapot was too high (the camera captured the top, but cut off the sides) and a baseball glove was too broad.

I eventually found a number of three-dimensional items one might find on an online auction site that were of appropriate size and shape (see sidebar). Matte elements, such as the body of a game controller and a cardboard Blu-Ray sleeve, came out nicely, but others - like the thick glass bits on a necklace - sometimes lacked detail. I tried scanning several 4-by-6 photos at 300 dots-per-inch, the TopShot's highest capture resolution, and the resulting files were grainy, pixelated, and had mottled colours. However, it struggles with documents of greater visual complexity, especially photographs. I couldn't imagine using them for anything.

However, the range of suitable objects is limited.

The TopShot's 3-D scanning system also impacts traditional 2-D scanning.

Not surprisingly, it's a capable printer/copier, especially when it comes to text documents, business cards, and simple brochures with colourful logos and diagrams. The TopShot then selects and amalgamates the best parts of these pictures, creating a composite image.

The TopShot's distinctive camera arm helps it stand out in a sea of seemingly interchangeable black and grey all-in-one printers, but its 3-D scanning capabilities will likely prove beneficial only to a small group of online businesses.

You can find the HP TopShot LaserJet Pro at Canadian retailers for $399. Some people may find they do the majority of their printing, scanning, copying and uploading without ever touching a laptop or desktop. Imagine an invisible pyramid, the tip touching the camera with its four sides extending down to the edges of the scanning plate.

HumanEyes Technologies Files Patent Infringement Lawsuit against Sony

HumanEyes Technologies, Ltd. Professor Peleg and his team discovered a breakthrough new method for generating 3D panoramic images by combining portions of multiple images recorded by an ordinary camera. Patent Nos. 6,665,003 and 7,477,284—are both based on inventions made at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem by world-renowned Computer Vision expert and HumanEyes co-founder Professor Shmuel Peleg and his students.

Sony's decision to incorporate HumanEyes' patented technology into its cameras and mobile devices comes after multiple communications between HumanEyes and Sony employees dating back to 2004 and after numerous citations by Sony in its own patents and patent applications to Professor Peleg's work and the two asserted HumanEyes patents. From Assistant to Photographer: Michael Clinard's Professional Transition

From Assistant to Photographer: Michael Clinard's Professional Transition

PDN: Did you plan a transition to shooting on your own as soon as you started assisting?

Michael Clinard: No, but it built to that.

PDN: Who did you learn most from about the business of photography?

MC: Jeff Corwin can be a corporate shooter. He's not there to waste anyone's time. He asked pointed questions, so in five minutes, he determined where he would be, how much time he had, what the subject was like, what options he had. My [prospective] client base was every single creative I'd worked with. I was usually the go-to [assistant for out-of-town shooters] in Seattle, so photo editors or creatives got to know me from production calls. I wasn't handing out business cards on the shoot [as an assistant]. I called them up said I'd love to shoot for you. I showed up, did my job, showed people I was the guy who could get things done. That's when my conversation with customers began, and when I called them up later [about work], they remembered who I was.

People I've worked with, I contact once a month by phone or e-mail. I started a conversation with Zana Woods at Wired over a year ago. I was recently in San Francisco shooting job for Fortune, so the day before I went down I called her, and got my meeting with Wired. Same with e-mail.

The other thing is, get yourself out there, and don't be upset if people tear your first book to shreds. I fill gaps with local catalog work, and look books. People told me what they liked and didn't like, and that helped me understand what worked for me.

PDN: How did you get meetings with people?

MC: I'm big on my relationships. Everything extra [after meeting my living expenses] went into that savings account.

PDN: When and how did the jobs start coming?

MC: As soon as I got back from New York, I started shooting for a local magazine. I shot two projects for him, and then he went to Men's Journal. The first thing I did with Amanda was go through all my photographs to see if there was anything I was overlooking. I hired a designer to create a new Web site. And I started thinking about getting a portfolio printed. My plan was to begin showing the portfolio in early 2011, but I applied to the NYC Fotoworks portfolio reviews in 2010, and got in. I was going to New York for the first time in November 2010 so I needed to print my book really quick. " So I printed it and started showing it. It'll never be perfect. We re-edited my work.

Alex Hayden would chat with me about what to spend money on. " He said, "Don't spend money on gear, spend it on self-promotion. " He kept saying it, I didn't hear it, so I would buy gear and he kept asking, "When are you going to begin self-promoting?" [Self-promotion] doesn't get results overnight. Alex showed me how important it was to start sooner rather than later, so when I got a couple of jobs under my belt, people would connect my work to my name and branding, and things would start coming together.

PDN: When and how did you start planning your transition?

MC: In late 2008, I saw [creative consultants] Amanda Sosa Stone and Suzanne Sease give a talk about getting your work out there. As an assistant, I learned phone etiquette. The more I did it, the better I got at it, and it got me jobs. When I leave a message, it's two quick sentences, in and out. I'm not calling them with a hard sell—"Got any work for me?"—I'm telling them who I am. I was still shooting stuff on side, and all the money I made assisting, I put right back into developing my own business—travel, production, and promotion.

PDN: What did your plan look like? What steps did you have to take?

MC: In the first part of 2010, I started working with Amanda Sosa Stone. I'mbig on [leveraging] relationships, so we worked that into the plan. When I talk to someone on the telephone I have a certain style. Getting in front of people is huge. It's about personality: They want to make sure you're not crazed, and if they send you on a job, you can handle it.

PDN: Did you quit assisting cold turkey when you started promoting yourself?

MC: I was still assisting in 2010 and Amanda told me I needed to take time off from being an assisting to work on this [transition. " 2010 was really stressful. He said, "You know Mike, you really need to cut the ties. You've got to call everyone in Seattle tomorrow and tell them you're done [with assisting. ]" He also said I had to be willing to take on $30,000 in credit card debt. I wanted to wean myself off assisting. That's not how I work.

PDN: How did you manage it financially between the time you stopped assisting and started getting your own jobs?

MC: That's still hard, and on my mind. My idea was that as long as I could make that shooting, I'd be fine. I had saved all this money—for getting my book printed, for getting a new Web site. As I shoot more edit stuff, I find myself doing that, too. When I went to New York in late, late 2010, I was still on hook for a couple assisting jobs. But I don't know. I used to help you Julian Dufort who used to help Annie Leibovitz.

PDN: So what specific steps did you take?

MC: I was already shooting in the direction I wanted to go in. I had a lot of work I was proud of.

How a photographer got this incredible shot of uptown Charlotte

How a photographer got this incredible shot of uptown Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N. He mostly takes commercial and industrial shots—a factory here, some real estate there.

A shot like this is what photographers dream about: That one moment where the light, the setting and the subject are perfectly aligned. The sun was low on the horizon behind them.

"It brings out the detail that isn't there normally," he said, explaining how the touches created a photo that more resemble what you'd see in person with your eyes. "But I think it makes for a very appealing shot.

Sometimes photographers use a technique called high dynamic range imaging, which takes a composite of several shots to create a picture that's more colorful and vivid.

"Actually, it's that image you just saw," he said. You put it in an eight-foot print and put some light on it, and you're just in awe. The sun angle and dark sky were already too perfect. They got a clear angle of the storm.

At one point, they snapped a photo of Austin wiping off the lens.

Austin got it. All of it.

The storm itself is actually northeast of uptown Charlotte. In this case, they're radiating out of the rainbow.

Austin and his girlfriend, Eve Lane, never got any lightning shots. The sky ahead was dark.

Austin's been taking pictures since high school. His work has picked up in the last five. And yes, it's real.

"We were actually out just looking for lightning shots," says Austin, 43. The storm lasted 20 minutes. He's been steadily freelancing for the last 20 years. There are crepuscular rays, diving-looking beams of light that usually radiate outward when the sun is behind a cloud.

Photographers' double-takes welcomed by Littlehampton Museum

Photographers' double-takes welcomed by Littlehampton Museum

The Manor House, Littlehampton, as it is today, and with an old photograph from many years ago.

A spokeswoman for the museum said: "The result is a magical doorway to the past, combining the old and the new.

"If anyone has, for example, an interesting image of their street or house taken in the 1970s, or a pretty beach snap from the 1950s we would like to hear from them.

Museum staff are inviting people to join in the Lens Eye View by taking an image of an old photograph held up in front of the place where it was originally taken.

The images should provide a fascinating link between the old and the new in Littlehampton and pictures taken by the public will be on show alongside those created by staff from the museum.

The photograph taken by the museum team (above) shows what is required, and anyone who would really like to take part should put their photo on a disc and send it to the museum at the Manor House, Church Street, Littlehampton, or e-mail it (see the address, below) to the museum by Saturday, March 31.

"This is the best concept," said councillor Joyce Bowyer, chairman of Littlehampton Town Council's community resources committee.

Pinholed: Turning wheelie bins into art

Pinholed: Turning wheelie bins into art

GREEN, bulky and often fairly smelly, wheelie bins were never the most welcome addition to the Edinburgh streetscape.

"What many pinhole photographers like is that aspect of surprise," says Kenny, 47, a professional creative photographer who has wheeled his modified bin to spots around Edinburgh, using it to capture a large variety of intriguing images.

"You can't be too sure of precisely what picture you'll end up with.

The festival runs until March 17 and includes a chance to see photographs captured using pinhole cameras, workshops and tips on how to make your own pinhole cameras.

"The wheelie bin is tricky, it takes 20 minutes to take a photo," adds Kenny.

'So there's this lack of creative control, everything is done for you, all automatic. You have to work at it to get an image and that makes it more satisfying whenever you do get a good picture. ".

The question then, is with digital photography these days offering us all of the chance to take perfect pictures and computer technology at our fingertips to tweak and twist it how we want, why bother?

"I think this is a kickback against digital photography in a way," says Kenny, 47, who also uses a sewage pipe – a new one, he quickly adds – to capture striking images which look like they could have been taken on the most expensive of equipment.

"A lot of people find digital photography quite unsatisfactory. You have a screen that shows you what picture you're taking and every picture works, more or less.

With no lenses to fiddle with and an aspect of guesswork involved when it comes to framing each shot, along with a giant dollop of patience – exposure time can range from minutes to several hours – the results, agrees Kenny, can be a more hit or miss affair than simply pushing the button on even the simplest smartphone camera.

Each striking image on show, some in dazzling colour, some quirky – such as a snap taken from inside one photographer's mouth – and some blurred ghostly portraits, has been captured using the simplest of cameras possible: just a sealed box, a pinhole to allow in a shaft of light and either some photographic paper or film.

The results of his work, along with other fascinating images from fellow pinhole photographers, can be seen at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh in the city's first Pinhole Photography Festival, which also supplies a chance for a new breed of would-be pinhole photographers to discover how to make their own basic cameras. There's not much involved in taking it either.

"Seal the box up then expose the photo paper for seconds, minutes, sometimes hours and then develop it in a dark room.

"You basically just require a sealed box," he explains.

According to Kenny, the process involved is so simple that parties of primary school children who attended the festival workshops earlier this week mastered the art within minutes.

A spell in a dark room and some chemicals later, and the results are sometimes striking and often provocative images, photographs captured without camera or lens, using just light and paper.

Cache County buys aerial photo services to assist property tax valuation

LOGAN — Cache County has purchased a program that may provide aerial images of all of the land and buildings in the county. These images will show every side of all the buildings in Cache County.

The county has also purchased online tools from Pictometry to measure buildings using these images, Jenkins said.

The planes will photograph images from various angles to capture the whole valley, said Cary Jenkins, a geographical information systems (GIS) specialist in Development Services.

"We overlay our property boundaries on it so we can look and see which structures are there," Howell said.

Howell said the pictures can certainly help the assessment office gather data, but they will still measure buildings on site.

New Canaan photographer Re-brands her Business

New Canaan photographer Re-brands her Business

With the advent of digital cameras, Photoshop, online websites that aid you design your own holiday photo cards, and laser printers that allow you to print your own pictures at home, professional portrait photographers have felt a bit of a pinch in their business in recent years. " "That shows the value system," she said. " "I have been building relationships with area families for 25 years, lifelong relationships, and we can now capture those memories in books," Morrow said. "It is my greatest joy to have children that I photographed grow up and continue their family's photographic heritage with me . "And now, we [Swickpix] can go beyond just photographing your family and providing professional prints that you frame or use for cards. " Morrow, whose studio is located at 111 Elm Street, above Rugby, was more or less a one-woman band for many years, until she brought on local resident and professional photographer Andrea Chalon in 2011 to share the load of the portrait photography. "I wanted the company to encompass much more than just me," Morrow said. "The purpose of was to create a community of photographers to capture family photo memories through the years. "There is still a need for a professional to capture those baby pictures, family portraits, weddings . Most people have hundreds and hundreds of photographs of family, trips, special occasions and the like, spread around the house in various forms — negatives, slides, prints, jpegs —in frames, photo albums, in boxes, drawers, on disks or on/in computers. A feature of Swickpix, according to Morrow, is that with the guide of their presentation software, they can organize all those photos — scanning, uploading, downloading, editing falling the favorites, and putting them into categories. The photography is the umbrella, but under that — as support — I recently brought on Melissa Thorkilsen [another New Canaan resident and amateur photographer] to help customers with their personal photo organizing, editing and book design. The second component is the creative treatment which can be given to those photos through the computer, and the third is the presentation, which is where the publishing facet comes in. The first is to capture the memory, through the photography. " Morrow said SwickPix, which "strives to provide an array of digital and traditional solutions for memory sharing," has three components. Her father, who will be 91 years old and has been the "keeper of all of the family photos," told her recently that all that matters to him now is "looking at the photographs of my life. According to local professional photographer Susan Morrow, "The technical revolution changed everything. " In June 2011, she saw an opportunity to re-brand her 25-year-old, New Canaan-based photography business — Susan Morrow Photography — as SwickPix, a full-service studio offering not only photography, but also photo organization and the publishing of favorite pictures into "high end" coffee table-type books. Morrow, a 1972 graduate of New Canaan High School, lent her maiden name — Swick — to the company's new moniker. And then, if the client desires, Swickpix can publish them into special photo books, with themes such as "My Life," "The Best of," or "Our Wedding. "It illustrates the power of a picture — of all photos — to tell a story. To have them all in one, organized place, so that you can revisit that story, that moment, each time you want, is special.

Littlehampton photographers' stunning images

Littlehampton photographers' stunning images

LITTLEHAMPTON and District Camera Club members were taken on a photographic tour of the county when the annual Sussex Scene competition was judged.

Ken Scott, from Steyning, was invited to judge the entries in the three categories, prints, slides and digital images.

Several views of Arundel featured in the 31 prints, but it was Rod Armstrong's "Littlehampton West Beach" which took the top spot, praised by the judge as an "excellent" picture.

In the slides, first place went to Maurice Ludlam with "Evening Light at the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust, Arundel". Ken commented on the superb lighting striking the buildings.

More fine photographs from right across Sussex were vying for the honours in the digital images section. Ken chose "Sussex Downs Riders" by Sylvia Kislingbury as the winner.

Here at the following week's meeting, Keith Gibson returned to talk about his ideas of how pictures ought to be prepared for competitions.

His first advice was to make sure to take all the equipment needed when leaving home for a photography session. When printing, he said, it was important to ensure that the mounts used to frame the photographs were perfect for the scene. If multiple photographs were required, pictures of a selection of different subjects should be submitted.

Keith showed many prints and digital images of his own work, including pictures of Barbados and a lot of locations in the UK.

Here at last week's meeting, the club held its annual auction night, members donating various items ranging from pots of home-made marmalade to unwanted photography gear, with the proceeds going to club funds. Auctioneers Michael Dove and Mike Constable prompted much laughter as they encouraged everyone to part with their loose change.

The club's digital group had a most successful February meeting, which concentrated on improving pictures. John Dove gave a fantastic short display of how much he enjoyed digital photography since joining the club.

This was followed by a most interesting lecture given by Rod Armstrong on adding speech to sequences. Finally, Mike Constable showed pictures with faults that the judges were always on the look-out for in competitions.

Utopia/Dystopia: Construction and Destruction in Photography and Collage

Since the late 19th century, photographers have honed their craft to expose social and political truths existing in their surroundings. Featured artists include El Lissitzky, Okanoue Toshiko, Herbert Bayer, Matthew Buckingham, Tom Thayer, among others, and although their work stems from different artistic movements—from Dada to Constructivism—all the artists embrace the compelling process of photography construction and destruction. Utopia/Dystopia is the brainchild of MFAH associate photography curator, Yasufumi Nakamori. The show is organized around three themes: urban visions, figure construction and the quest for a utopian world, and contains pieces drawn from four museums and private holdings. "In breaking and reassembling found images to create a new vision, artists have found collage and montage ideal for expressing utopian dreams and dystopian anxieties," said Nakamori . Utopia/Dystopia will be on display through June 10 as part of the FotoFest 2012 Biennial , the largest international photography festival in the U.

Photographers mistake 66-year-old Debbie Harry for Lindsay Lohan

When Debbie Harry of the band Blondie left the Mercer Hotel on Sunday, photographers crowded around the 66-year-old. The two women do share a similar complexion and face structure, despite their 41 year age difference. The image looks very similar to one snapped of Lohan two days before, as she exited the same hotel wearing similar sunglasses. Lohan flew back to Los Angeles after her fourth "SNL" hosting gig yesterday.

Lohan has been criticized in recent months for looking far older than her age. While her performance earned mixed reviews, it was the second most-watched episode of "SNL" so far this season, only behind Charles Barkley.

Detroit — The former Packard Plant, one of the most iconic ruins in a city of 101,719 vacant parcels, has become even more of an underground tourist attraction since news leaked Friday about the dead factory's possible demolition. Arace returned Monday with fellow College for Creative Studies graduate Ryan McCarthy, 33, also of Lake Orion. "That's why there's so many people here. If you know where to look, you will find great art," Allerton said. Allerton said he was interesting in documenting the works of Ron English. The freelance photographer should know. He came to the Packard Plant for the first time Friday with his camera and has already posted several artsy photographs of the facility on his website, thereason. "There were at least 20 cars in the parking lot, with about four photographers," in each car, Allerton said, referring to the weekend crowd. Allerton returned to the Packard Monday with Robert Thorpe, 40, to comb through the huge blight for street art. "It was like an amusement park here over the weekend — an amusement park for creatives," said Chris Arace, 32, of Lake Orion. Photographer Joseph Allerton, 31, of Detroit had the same idea. He returned to the Packard this past weekend for the first time since 1998 when he attended a hip-hop show in the facility. 5 million square-foot facility within a month. It was like a signal that we have to document it now," McCarthy said. "It was big news that something might happen to the Packard.

Five Atlanta photographers examine why the Future is Behine Us

Five Atlanta photographers examine why the Future is Behine Us

Only four buildings remain in Atlanta that predate Sherman's fiery 1864 March to the Sea. The hardwood in "Live Oak, 17th Street and Peachtree, Atlanta, 2012" has grown out of its concrete stranglehold with such urgency that it looks on the verge of yanking its roots from the earth and running away. " Most of us are just like Gale, focused on getting from point A to point B, rarely pausing to glance in the rearview at what we're leaving behind. " Dowda's loose curatorial guidelines asked the artists to shoot one of the historic neighborhoods in which the APC has worked. Carder and Gale photographed the Auburn Avenue area, Floyd snapped images of Cabbagetown, Frank took on Midtown, and McClure captured the Druid Hills community. The Future is Behind Us' series of nine black-and-white, silver gelatin and archival ink jet prints will be installed in the drawing room of LP Grant Mansion (headquarters of the Atlanta Preservation Center), a building Dowda describes as "sweating with history. " The drawing room's plaster walls are the color of red Georgia clay, one of the reasons Dowda chose to have the artists work in black and white. "Too much color would compete so I thought there's this sense of nostalgia that black-and-white photos evoke, and also the question of when these photos were taken, as if you are going through this historic document," she says. I drive to and from work, and I'm in my car several hours a day. It's refreshing to experience those little details that you wouldn't if you didn't get out of your car every once in a while. "Preservation is not about an object in isolation but about the culture that evoked the object and what can enrich our own period. " 2012's Phoenix Flies' lineup includes the group photography exhibit The Future is Behind Us presented in partnership with community arts organization WonderRoot . Curated by local artist Stephanie Dowda, The Future is Behind Us will feature the work of Atlanta photographers Chris Carder, John Paul Floyd , Jill Frank, Nikita Gale , and Chris McClure to offer perspectives on how Atlanta's architectural history can shape the city's future. When that was saved it basically said that [preservation] was possible and that there were people invested in it," says Coons. "We're the city too busy to be grateful. " For the last 12 years Coons has worked with the APC to fight Atlanta's itchy demolition finger, including successful efforts to save Ivy Hall/Peters Mansion, Paschal's Restaurant, and Grant Park's 1856 Lemuel P. "I used to go to [Auburn Avenue] a lot as kid. "[For the exhibit] we're capturing a piece of time through our perspectives as artists and telling a story about how contemporary ideas about sites and buildings affect how we continue forward. "As an Atlanta native, I understand the disbelief in how Atlanta has developed as a city; things that I've thought were beautiful or interesting have been leveled," says Dowda. Floyd's study "February 4, 2012" plays peekaboo with Cabbagetown's Fulton Bag and Cotton Mill's now defunct smokestacks. The two towers appear camouflaged among a cluster of naked trees, or fused to the gabled roofs of the surrounding cottages. Her prints resemble contact sheets, each with three rows of five consecutively shot frames. The individual rows each represent the view of a city block from the sidewalk across the street. Grant Mansion, the city's oldest building. My mom used to take my brother and I to Sweet Auburn Market. Frank considers a pair of lonely old trees spared the axe amid the new construction in Midtown. In "Magnolia, Whole Foods parking lot, Atlanta, 2012," the title subject proudly puffs out its leafy chest at the surrounding strip mall. I used [the project] as an opportunity to reacquaint myself with the area," says Gale. Gale shot everything at eye level to simulate the pedestrian experience in her images. "It's such a car-centric city.

Chamber Chapter

Chamber Chapter

This week the chamber would like to welcome Loretta's business and office cleaning services and No Limits Photography as our new members for February. One quality about No Limits Photography is if he hasn't done it before he is always willing to try. at the Expo II Building of the Clearfield Driving Park and we definitely hope to see you there.

It is that time of year where we find ourselves at the Clearfield chamber gearing up for our Wing Fling. If anyone is interested in having any kind of photos done contact him. Something special that No Limits Photography does that some businesses don't do is tell you they can't help. Professional cleaning can be done weekly, biweekly or monthly. Scott Johnson also does graphic design. If you aren't sure if Loretta's cleaning services are right for you she can give you a free estimate. If you are in need of any sort of logos, flyers or anything of that sort No Limits Photography can certainly help. This creates a great opportunity to present a product, gift basket or other item to represent your company in front of several hundred individuals from the general public. We need your support again this year and a fantastic way to do that while also promoting your organisation, other than serving wings, is to donate something for the silent or Chinese auctions.

No Limits Photography is owned and operated by Scott Johnson of Houtzdale. He tries his best to get you what you need and if he can't he can point you in the right direction. We had nearly 600 attend last year's event and the silent auction was a huge success thanks to our generous members who donated items.

Genius Scan Turns iPhone, iPad Into Scanner

Genius Scan Turns iPhone, iPad Into Scanner

Genius Scan--and the paid version Genius Scan --for iPhone provides a convenient way to capture whiteboard sessions, receipts, and other papers and signage on the go, clean them up, and save and disseminate them in various formats. One of the app's most interesting abilities is straightening skewed or off-centered images of photographed whiteboards or signs. You can take photographs using the app, or import existing photographs from your iPhone or iPad's Photo Album. This means you do not have to recall to run the app during a whiteboard brainstorming session or projected presentation; images taken by the iPhone or iPad's camera app can be processed by Genius Scan later. If enough visual information is available, the app will automatically attempt to repair the skew itself. You also can manually manipulate the lines defining the capture area to straighten images.
