TALENTED local artist James Barrett has chosen the Ashdown Forest Centre, Wych Cross to host an exhibition of his latest work.

The landscape photography exhibition will run from now until March 28. It's open at weekends from 11am until dusk. There's a chance to satisfy James at the centre on March 24. Entry is free.

James explains: "I am a freelance photographer specialising in landscape and nature photography and have a particular interest in this beautiful region.

"I became a complete time freelance photographer in late 2009, which was a dream for me and I am still enjoying it immensely.

"My passion for photography started in 2003 as a way of documenting what I was seeing around me while travelling in Australia and New Zealand.

"I have always loved walking and the outdoors so it was a natural step to incorporate taking photographs into my existing hobby.

"I started with a basic 35mm film camera but it was the move to a Canon digital camera that really helped my photographic progression. I find the capability to get immediate results in the field extremely helpful. Photographers such as Joe Cornish, Guy Edwardes and Paul Wakefield inspire me with their beautiful images of the British Isles.

"These images were taken over an 18 month period and I've tried to capture the essence of the forest in varied and interesting conditions. It was such a pleasure to take these photographs and I really hope you enjoy this exhibition of my work."
