Fantastic £1000 in prizes must be snapped up

STROUD Life has joined forces with Prema arts centre and Clifton Cameras to set a challenge to all budding photographers in the Five Valleys and Severn Vale to get snapping.

So here is your chance to help us all celebrate the photographic image and vote for whose work deserves the accolade Stroud Life Photographer of the Year 2012.

Examples of the entries will begin appearing in Stroud Life from next week.

Judging to find the top 10 in each category will be done on Friday May 4 and the first category will be published for a reader vote on Wednesday May 9.

The best five in each category, selected by the reader votes, will go on show at Prema on Monday June 25.

And if that is not enough to get your creative juices going there are a fantastic £1,000-plus in prizes to snap up.

The readers' favourite five in each category will then go on view in Uley-based Prema's Red Room Gallery where you are invited to go along and take part in the final People's Vote to decide the overall Best in Show first prize winner.

Our expert panel of judges will be narrowing down the images after which you can cast you own vote on the very best images in each category, with voting forms printed in Stroud Life.

The competition is running in Stroud Life throughout April and May and is split up into five categories - Landscape, Urban, Active, Close up and Wildlife.

Visitors to the exhibition will then get the opportunity to vote for their favourite - the overall first prize winner - which will be announced in Stroud Life on Wednesday July 11.
